About this document

18. Hands-On: B

  1. Change directory to hands_on_B:
            cd hands_on_B
  2. You will find a file called letter.tex. Use gedit, or your favourite editor, to edit this file to compose a letter of your choice. (For example, write a letter to your MP concerning the delays of trains between Liverpool and Manchester.)

  3. You will also find a file called lists.tex. Edit this file to produce a list of lists of lists — experiment with the three environments. (For example, make a list of different bits of software available for preparing documents, there strong points and weak points, and workarounds for each weak point, with examples of use for each strong point: e.g., LaTeX, mathematics, submission to journals.

  4. Finally, you will find a "structured document". First, compile it — twice — and (pre-)view it. Notice the table of contents. Add some sections, subsections and subsubsections of your own.
