1. Introduction

This document describes the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAg) Fortran 77 and Fortran 90 libraries as supported by ISD at UMIST on Solaris and MS Windows platforms.

At the time of writing we have the following site licences:

Administrators of all Solaris, Linux and MS Windows machines at UMIST can freely install these libraries. Copies of the installation CDs may be purchased from ISD Helpdesk for £15 (each CD contains one library for one platform). These libraries are supported by ISD at Level 3.

The remainder of this document consists of sections describing use of the: Fortran 77 libraries with the Sun F77 Compiler v4.2, or later; Fortran 90 libraries with the Sun F90 Compiler v4.2 (not later versions); F77 libraries, Mark 19, for the NAg F90 compiler and the Salford F90 and F95 compilers on Windows 32 (though there are difficulties with the FTN95 compiler --- see comments in the relevant section); F90 libraries, Release 3, for the NAg F90 compiler and the Salford F90 compiler (not the Salford F95) on Windows 32. Also included are notes on static versus dynamic linking and answers to some frequently asked questions (FAQ).
