Accessing:
The LaTeX installation on Universe is based on teTeX. All parts of teTeX are command-line only. The utilities, accessible simply by typing the names, are: tex, pdftex, pdflatex, dvips, xdvi. Each lives in /usr/local/bin; if the this is not on your path you will need to type the full pathname of the utility, for example, /usr/local/bin/latex.
